Signature jewellery

Ladislav Oliva

In jewellery making I have found a path of my own. My first inspiration came from my fused glass objects, whose artistic principles could be carried over into jewellery. My aim was to make the most of the optical qualities of glass – the contrast of smooth and textured surfaces, lenses and sharp cuts.
To make the glass stones I use a range of techniques: cutting, fusing, pressing and slumping.
The jewellery hangs on metal and leather. The delicate metal structure is blackened, as is the leather, so that both materials contrast with the colour of the glass.

Although each piece is a small work of art, this original combination of materials makes it perfectly wearable every day.

In my work I sometimes touch on the character of different cultures (Africa, the Orient, Mexico). I search for archetypal shapes. Some pieces belong to a category of futuristic, even cosmic design.
Over time I have created more than 300 shapes and countless variations of them.

I have customers all over the world and of all ages.

I make my fused glass jewellery from special stained glass using the fusing and Tiffany techniques. I assemble pieces of glass into geometric motifs and symbols in all kinds of colour combinations.

Every piece is unique thanks to the choice of a particular colour field or pattern in the glass. Firing in an electric kiln gives each piece softly rounded edges and a character of its own.

I match the colours of the beaded cords to the glass pendant so that they become a natural part of it and form a harmonious whole.

Each piece can be complemented with earrings and a ring.

Handmade

Bracelets

I make bracelets by hand from high-quality Japanese Miyuki glass beads, pearls, semi-precious stones and other small components. Every bracelet is made with care for detail, colour harmony and comfortable wear.

I use Tila beads as well as tiny Delica beads, which I stitch into intricate patterns. Alongside these I also offer simple, minimalist bracelets with pearls, semi-precious stones or metal charms. Depending on the type, the bracelets are strung on elastic or on a special cord with a sliding knot, or fitted with a metal clasp and extension chain.

For those who love to combine, I also create themed sets of several bracelets that form a harmonious whole in colour and style.

It all began at secondary school, where we learned the technique of bonding glass. I loved the way colours could be joined together. My jewellery reflects my technical bent. Working with Káťa has changed its character too, giving rise to a distinct category of jewellery (Duhovky – Irises). To suit the character of the cut glass I chose stainless steel. Leather has proved best for hanging, as it also contrasts with both glass and metal.

A speciality is the "KOSMOS" category – our most complex pieces, assembled from several cut glass elements.

Handmade

Earrings and rings

New since 2018 are our earrings with silver. Hand-cut glass is bonded to a custom-made silver component, and the silver can be blackened on request.
The earrings come in three variants: crystals, raspberries, and earrings made to match a pendant as a set.

We offer two types of fitting: hooks, or posts with ball backs (screw-on).
